Le ministre de la santé, Ahmedou Ould Hademine Ould Jelvoune, a présidé samedi dans la ville de Rosso la cérémonie de lancement d’un nouveau vaccin (Rota Virus) contre la diarrhée des nourrissons âgés de 0 à 11 mois, rapport l’Agence Mauritanienne d’Information (AMI).
Ce vaccin vise à réduire la mortalité infantile conformément aux Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement (OMD).
Estimé à 58,93 pour 1000 naissances normales, le taux de mortalité infantile en Mauritanie reste encore élevé en dépit de certains progrès constatés au cours des dernières années.
Quant au taux de couverture vaccinal, il est passé de 64% en 2010 à 80% en 2013.
