Quarante quatre corps de migrants ont été découverts dans le désert nigérien. Ils sont morts alors qu'ils tentaient de se rendre en Libye. Trois bébés, deux enfants mineurs et dix-sept femmes figurent parmi les victimes, essentiellement des Ghanéens et des Nigérians.
Selon six survivants, les victimes sont mortes de soif après la panne de leur véhicule. Ces survivants ont pu rejoindre à pied un oasis appelé Ashougour.
Ils sont actuellement pris en charge dans un centre de migrants à Dirkou. Les autorités se préparent à se rendre sur les lieux du drame pour récupérer les corps.
